The way the Internet (myself included) uses beta is actually wrong. A beta is a second in command, not a doormat. Omegas are the doormats everybody steps on, even regular folks (the bulk of people, who are neither alphas nor betas).

I'm a beta (in the ethological sense). I don't have the level of aggressiveness of an alpha, but I'm not a wimp. I can step up when needed, and that includes standing up to an alpha, if it's what is called for. (That's probably why I'm drawn to alphas. I'm too scrappy for regular folks. They bring out the aggression in me where alphas calm me down, because there's no need for me to be aggressive around them--that's their job.)

That being said I would bet shitlords have a much higher than average proportion of ethological alphas and betas than the general population, and about zero omegas. And for what it's worth, as someone with yet-another weird personality type, I don't think Asperger's precludes you from being badass. :)

(Gees... talk about rambling. I had to get that off my chest, I guess.)

My best friend fucked with my head the other week about this. I told her I was the alpha in our relationship, she told me thats a lie she lets me think that way cause its cute that I think Im in charge. Im a loud talker (blame my dad for it) and I didnt know this until she pointed it out. If I get too loud she says something under breathe for me to quite down and I do. It shattered my universe.

Hah, I'm pretty loud too. That's because I'm a lowlife. :) But it has it's advantages: can't really be assertive if no one hears what you're saying, can you?

Well, thanks for your kind words :)

I suppose there are other ways to be "badass" than physical confrontation. (Ever tried to look intimidating when you can't look a person in the eye?) I, personally, have no interest in being confrontational. And, even if I did, I really don't think I have it in me.

Instead, I threw myself into education.... 'cos, again personally, I think science is pretty "badass".

Yes, there're plenty of ways to assert yourself, although in the end I guess it all boils down to two things: strength and intellect. When people think aggression, they think physical strength, but I really think a strong intellect can turn around many situations. It's a matter of picking the right battles.
