Arctiinae are both one of my favourite Lep Families and banes of my existence... Finding clearwings that originally look like Sesiidae but are in fact Arctiinae, and what look like Arctiinae but are in fact Noctuidae is a pain.

I feel your pain. I think the moth side of Leps are so annoying. Like anyone else I could clock a Saturniid from across a county, but half of the time if it's brown and ugly, I call it a noctuid and give up.

Could be worse, you could get dozens of pictures of microleps and people saying "WHAT'S THIS?!"

"... It's a moth, that's as far as I'm going."

I deal mostly with Sphingids, so while I will dabble in other families, I try and avoid the microleps when possible. Some are really easy, but most of the time it's just a small, brown moth.
