Yep, exactly how a Generative-Adversarial (neural) Network works. Two AIs, where one AI generates data (in this case, photoshopped photos) and the other AI tries to pick out from a set of photos of which one is real and which one is fake (photoshopped).

Over time, the generator AI learns how to create better and better photos to fool the other AI, while the discriminator AI learns how to better tell real photos from fake photos.

Thus you can get AIs that can generate on-the-fly realistic photos of people who don't actually exist, like this site: https://www.thispersondoesnotexist.com/

Chans caught out some twitter faggots/shill accounts who were represented by these generated avatars. One of them was in the middle of a fairly big happening too IIRC. Only way to tell was the way the hair gets scrambled by the mixing algo.
