(The original motivation for taxation with representation was to keep taxes low, well they did not thought that through to the end)
Taxation with representation was probably the worst political invention ever!
Because if somebody taxes you without representation you call that (rightfully so) theft, but when you get taxed with representation you cannot complain about it as the tax was (implicitly) approved by the majority.
A king could never tax his people over 10% because they would revolt, as they saw that as taking away their means of survival to enrich the king. (A king can only kike taxes till he loses his head)
A democracy has no constraint to how high taxes can get as it can always be sold as "common good" and not personal enrichment of anybody.
