I've always been a single pedal set player. I couldn't turn down a Demon Drive double pedal from a friend liquidating his equipment (barely used, $200), so I picked it up. It's a complete mental change for me, so I'm trying to tastefully incorporate double-pedal into my playing. I don't play much metal or straightforward double pedal stuff, but I love Gavin Harrison and have been trying to emulate his double pedal use. It's hard playing for so many years and reverting to practicing straight-4/4 with quarter/eighth/sixteenth on the double pedal. But I'm getting somewhere with it.
I'm in the same spot. I never thought I would be a double pedal guy, but then I watched Gavin Harrison perform "Sound of Muzak." His double pedal work is super tasteful and sounds freaking awesome.
I bought myself a DW 5000 Turbo Drive double pedal and have been trying to find ways to adapt it into my playing. It definitely feels weird switching that left foot from hi hat to bass pedal.

Stick control all day every day.
Each exercise 20x each, from 60bpm to 90bpm. I don't move on until I am exactly on the click and every hit sounds exactly the same.
