This somehow reminded me of the underground residences in Beijing (unrelated, I know).

Due to high rent and whatnot, some people opted to live underground (which is to my understanding illegal there) - abandoned bomb shelters, utility rooms - whatever there is. The places are cramped and it feels a bit like a prison cell - probably the similarity to this video that made me remember this.
At least the manga cafes offer you a computer and access to lots of comics. I've been in some, and although they're an awesome idea, I can't imagine living in one. I'm only glad I wasn't poor enough to have to.
