Also, dont forget to let it rest after removing it from heat.

The 5 minute rest is just enough time to saute some asparagus in the hot pan in the left over butter and oil from cooking the steaks.

Been cooking for decades, but this video about how Ramsey cooks his steaks really improved the taste of mine.

You can see he has done that a few times. It's given me a few ideas.

Ok so if you want to take it to the next level salt and pepper to taste and cook it. That's pretty easy. What will really do it is taking a tablespoon of butter and putting a bunch of herbs in it. Get something like a dried herb mix, rosemary, thyme, parsley, basil, and put it on the butter. Pop it in a microwave for a few seconds to melt the butter. Stir it then put it in the fridge until the steak is done. Put a dollop on the hot steak and let it melt on. Compound butters like this add a ton of flavor.

If you salt it when it's still raw it will harden. Salt it right a minute before taking it off the heat.

Rib eye is good for cast iron.

Let steak rest to room temp, insert seasoned cast iron pan in to oven while it heats to 500. Turn top burner on high.

Lightly oil and season both sides of steak. USING A POTHOLDER, remove pan from oven and place on burner. Insert the warmish and salty meat in to pan. 2 min per side.

At the 2 min mark for side 2, promptly put pan back in to oven. 30 seconds per side. Remove steak, place on plate and tent with foil for a few minutes.

Get ready to orgasm over steak.

Note - times are for average cuts (thickness, about inch and a half or so.) Remember, it will continue to cook some even after removing from heat.

When you want to take it to the net level, please try Sous Vide. It's also great for cooking for large parties or making a weeks worth of meals on your off time. Probably the best part of it is that it renders fat and tougher tissues out.

I think bacon is too over-powering. I enjoy the taste of the steak first.

Agree. Same for bell pepper. Terribly overpowering.

Sounds interesting. I've had chicken wrapped in bacon before, but like Boyakasha says, I think it might overpower the steak.
