Welcome to V/ConcealCarry.
This is a public forum for all things conceal carry.
Feel free to share your opinions, ask questions, and start conversations about conceal carry firearms, home security, gun laws, and more.
There are no rules other than not being a dick and helping out newcomers. If we have to get to the point to make rules then we have deviated from the primary purpose. We are small enough now where civil conversation can be made and we can have a good time.
Some things to consider:
-
Please don't be a dick. If someone has a Hi-Point pistol and it is all they can afford don't bash them. We at one point have been strapped and can only buy what we can afford.
-
If someone likes Glock, Beretta, S&W and you do not, please don't bash or throw stones. I myself love all guns and will shoot any gun that is thrown my way. People have different tastes and that is ok.
-
Any anti-gun or anti 2nd amendment hooliganry will not be accepted. This is America and we love guns. Especially the right to conceal and carry.
-
Memes, dialogue, news, and any other gun related news is totally acceptable. Mods here aren't going to power trip over good intentions.
-
Check out our sister subverses. They have some very good content. (more than which I can provide at the moment). We are a community after all and supporting one another only helps us all.

Depends largely on:
A. The caliber of gun and barrel length, B. The skill of the carrier, and C. If your intent is to stop someone or just slow them down.
The larger caliber guns tend to have more kick with JHP rounds, like the 1911 Compact (3.5" barrel) I carry. The full-sized version of my gun (5" barrel) doesn't have half the kick of the compact.
If you are skilled at one hand shooting (which most of the time you will need to shoot one handed if pulling your concealed carry in public) then JHP's or FMJ's will work. Just remember that an FMJ from a higher caliber (38 or higher) gun can often travel through-and-through your target and may strike an innocent.....so I always carry with JHP's for that very reason.
If I ever have the need to pull my concealed carry in public I do not want the perpetrator to ever put someone else in that position, which is yet another reason I carry with JHP's loaded. They do far more damage and are more likely to permanently eliminate the threat.
