Welcome to V/ConcealCarry.
This is a public forum for all things conceal carry.
Feel free to share your opinions, ask questions, and start conversations about conceal carry firearms, home security, gun laws, and more.
There are no rules other than not being a dick and helping out newcomers. If we have to get to the point to make rules then we have deviated from the primary purpose. We are small enough now where civil conversation can be made and we can have a good time.
Some things to consider:
-
Please don't be a dick. If someone has a Hi-Point pistol and it is all they can afford don't bash them. We at one point have been strapped and can only buy what we can afford.
-
If someone likes Glock, Beretta, S&W and you do not, please don't bash or throw stones. I myself love all guns and will shoot any gun that is thrown my way. People have different tastes and that is ok.
-
Any anti-gun or anti 2nd amendment hooliganry will not be accepted. This is America and we love guns. Especially the right to conceal and carry.
-
Memes, dialogue, news, and any other gun related news is totally acceptable. Mods here aren't going to power trip over good intentions.
-
Check out our sister subverses. They have some very good content. (more than which I can provide at the moment). We are a community after all and supporting one another only helps us all.

What is the purpose of urethane filled hollow points? To make them more aerodynamic?

The tip is red and feels like a pencil eraser. It's supposed to be better for a short barrel. And guarantees a large transfer of force from a larger mushroom. Hornady makes a few types. I'm carrying the critical defense.

A normal JHP will penetrate then expand where as a rubber/urethane filled JHP will begin expanding on impact. In my opinion the filled JHP's do less damage to a perpetrator than a standard JHP because the expand on impact and thus the normal soft tissue of the outer body absorbs most of the damage and limits the amount of internal (organ) damage.
