Welcome to V/ConcealCarry.
This is a public forum for all things conceal carry.
Feel free to share your opinions, ask questions, and start conversations about conceal carry firearms, home security, gun laws, and more.
There are no rules other than not being a dick and helping out newcomers. If we have to get to the point to make rules then we have deviated from the primary purpose. We are small enough now where civil conversation can be made and we can have a good time.
Some things to consider:
-
Please don't be a dick. If someone has a Hi-Point pistol and it is all they can afford don't bash them. We at one point have been strapped and can only buy what we can afford.
-
If someone likes Glock, Beretta, S&W and you do not, please don't bash or throw stones. I myself love all guns and will shoot any gun that is thrown my way. People have different tastes and that is ok.
-
Any anti-gun or anti 2nd amendment hooliganry will not be accepted. This is America and we love guns. Especially the right to conceal and carry.
-
Memes, dialogue, news, and any other gun related news is totally acceptable. Mods here aren't going to power trip over good intentions.
-
Check out our sister subverses. They have some very good content. (more than which I can provide at the moment). We are a community after all and supporting one another only helps us all.

anything that uses a .45 ACP (Automatic Colt Pistol) would be to your liking

You can browse through these I guess...
I only have a rifle at the moment, wife won't let me buy a pistol til I have an actual job.
But as far as anything, between a .45 ACP and 9x19 pb, you can find some decent pistols that don't give a huge kick but delivers quite a stopping power (meaning less penetration)
.45 ACP hollow points seem to be the choice for military when it comes to choice your asking for.

Start with a .22lr pistol for practice, learn sight picture and trigger control etc... Do this before you start with any other firearm. Work your way up from there. If you know nothing about guns, jumping right into some big bore isn't going to be good for you. Take a class at a local range or find some locals to take you out shooting.
As for something to carry, 9mm with good loads is the best blend of low recoil/control-ability with tissue damage. There are a lot of light, concealable single stack 9mm's. Here's a good comparison of some recent models. http://www.gunsandammo.com/handguns/compacts/single-stack-9mm-shootout/
I recommend Hornady Critical Duty or Hydrashok Low Recoil.
Other compacts with double stack magazines are good as well. Springfield, CZ, and Glock all make great ones.
Find a local range that rents firearms and try several of them out, get a feel for it before you buy it.

Heavier pistols are easier to shoot. Go to a range and rent some guns to see what feels good to start with.

That's good advice. The best carry piece is the one you'll carry, if you don't like it you won't carry it.
