Hey everyone, I was recenetly asked by a friend to help him put together a parts list for a mini ITX gaming build. I have yet to actually assemble on the mini ITX platform so I was hoping to turn here for some help.
Here is a basic parts list I came up with...
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
I decided on the Thermaltake v1 mini tower because of who many great reviews it has. It also seems to have some of the better heat management of the mini ITX cases.
For a CPU I turned to the i5 4690k. This is about the best gaming cpu anyone can pick up, unfortunately the case might not provide enough room for an aftermarket cooler which would lead to the overclocking function being severely hindered.
I picked the GA-z97n-wifi for its compatibility with OCing the 4690k and its inbuilt wifi so we don't need an additional card. This will ensure where ever he might take his little pc he can join a network.
The Gigabyte GTX 970 was chosen over a 290x due to its smaller wattage and thermal footprint. this 970 in particular is much smaller than most.
The storage is your standard ssd/HDD combo, as is the memory.
The power supply is fully modular and of high quality provided far greater power than needed.
I hope that you can help me decide what parts might need to be replaced or if im on the right track. Any insight from anyone that has done an ITX build would be greatly appreciated!
