Something I've been struggling with is tying in the notion of consciousness with human's evolution from apes.... I mean, we know that most apes cannot pass a mirror test, right? Well, what in the hell was the convergence like between those apes and humans?
And what do those intermediate stages mean? Was is a natural progression upwards in IQ? What is partial consciousness?
Lastly, and this one might be getting out there, but I think there is something to it, is there such a thing as a GREATER consciousness? I'm not attempting to push the conversation in any particular direction, and sure, I'm open to the idea that drugs give a higher sense of consciousness. However, I'm mostly trying to get at what it would mean to have a higher level of consciousness given the same trajectory our minds have already taken. Do you think merging with machines is that next level of consciousness?
