I work outside in the forest for my job and come across so many great photo opportunites! From an elk only 30ft away under the tree canopy surrounded by ferns, birds flitting over the river, to just really cool trees or mushrooms on the forest floor. Problem is I have an old nikon coolpix pocket camera (very unsatisfied) or my phone. Neither of which could even take a viable picture of the elk so close by (I was in a sunny area and elk was in semi-shaded conditions).
Also because of my work I would love something durable and not terribly large (preferably like a metal one?) and I would love to learn more about photography and how to take better photos over time. My budget is to hopefully stay under $300. I went to Frys and saw some canons (Im sorry cant remember model) that were small, metal, and had removable lenses but all the displays were powered off or missing their lenses so I couldn't fiddle with any of them.
So anyone have any good suggestions that would suit my needs?
