They're freaked out about men learning stoicism.

Of course. Don't want people being capable of thinking for themselves and not tolerating the current flavour of horseshit that these fuckers keep spewing - it means no more profits or livelihood for the concernfagging cunts!

Which books on stoicism would you recommend?

I liked obstacle is the way by ryan holiday. Meditations by marcus aueriulius is cool because it was never meant for the public. Now listening to happy by darren brown that was recommended by an englishman I know.

Don't read anything modern.

Seneca

Epictetus

Marcus Aurelius

in that order. The writing is simple, and there isn't much of it. It's all free on archive.org

It's the tendency of every age of crisis to go back to an earlier, simpler age to discover what we lost and what they got right. The fact that I and many others are studying Greek and Roman statecraft, myths, and philosophy shouldn't come as any surprise. The founding fathers of America did the same thing when designing a more perfect union.

The gall of this woman to criticize white men for learning about their own history while trying to convince them that the men of old weren't patriarchal. Someone should tell her to stop appropriating our culture.

I'm almost finished reading the Federalist Papers and there are scores of references to Greek and Roman politics.

History has proved that it is the anti-federalist papers worthy of more attention. It has turned out that they were right and the federalists wrong.

Terrence McKenna also expounds upon this principle in his talks on the psychedelic hyperspace experience. I know how most of voat feels about drugs, but McKenna was definitely an extraordinary man. Just listen to any of his talks, he often perceives and labels connections between the physical world and the spiritual world, or hyperspace, through the lens of psilocybin usage and study, along with other means.

Yeah take enough mushrooms and youll feel like youre in hyperspace. Enough and you will break the fouth wall of conciousness, destroy your ego, and able to self reflect on a spiritual level.

In reality youre overstimulating your brain with a serotonin substitute. Introducing neurochemicals to the fragile and complex human brain which forces it to act in a way it wasnt designed to isnt always a good thing.

Problem is if you take that shit too seriously, you become a drug fucked rambler who tries to push those ideas onto others. Its unhealthy to chase rabbits for too long, because the further you go, the further distant your mind is from reality. And with a destroyed sense of ego, you begin to lose the inner narrative which was given to you to push your ambitions.

Terrance mckenna, Albert Hoffman, Timothy Leary. All pushed the idea that psycadelics can make the world a better place. But look at what the hippie revolution actually did, these same people who "expanded" their minds in the 60s, are now the forefront of cultural marxism.

I actually credit Mckenna for much of my views on this. It's no surprise you recognize my post as echoing what he said.

Typical feminazi cunt though - doesn't want people to look further than at base value because it means she doesn't get attention.

Lol. They tried to subsume Classics under the greivance studies title of "Greek and Roman Studies" but the students are rejecting it and the schools that changed the name are all one by one changing back. Sounds like Dr Zuckerberg is afraid that the slow march through the institutions is meeting resistance.

I am reading the classics. Not because I'm "alt-right". I read them because they are damn good.

Persecuting people for liking classic literature contravenes basic decency and human rights, and erases the lessons of history. Also, assuming this poor soul isn't deliberately malevolent and knows what she is doing, will be increasingly bewildered by the growth of this so called "alt-right" which is flat out wrong and simply sane people distancing themselves from the satanic cult that has developed on the left.

She is deliberately malevolent - because it has to be "all about her".

People who make it "all about them" will of course demonise those who don't subscribe to their crap, in an attempt to shame them into coming back into "correct groupthink". The only correct response to that bullshit is "No, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, thanks".
