1984, combined with Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, paint a pretty dark but accurate picture of the direction our society has headed (and is still heading)

Individually they miss parts of the equation, but together it's strikingly accurate.

It's not very satisfying if you're fond of disney stories. Some parts are prophetic, especially the spying devices.

I have made a cocktail I call a "George Orwell", or just an "Orwell" for short.

  • 1 saccharine tablet (available at grocery stores in the sweeteners)
  • 1 dash clove powder
  • 2oz dry Gin

It'll set your teeth on edge, bruh.

You guys can't use your local library? Copyright is bad and all, but if you're opposed to the Orwell estate making the cash off a potential purchase at least keep your local librarians employed.

Meanwhile librarians in the wild actively resist that kind of monitoring being available to other parts of the government. Librarians go to bat for your liberties, post signs warning of policy changes that can adversely affect patrons, and in my experience thwart monitoring programs they do not agree with. You want to know who has way more info about your habits than a library? Your ISP, and they're selling that info off to anyone with the right amount of dollars. Governments, Parties, foreign entities, spies, identity thieves, etc.

I'm not opposed to copyright. I am opposed to copyright being abused.

You mean like Amazon selling copies of 1984 and then deleting them from kindles because they didn't work out their rights with the Orwell estate?

I agree. Libraries are one of our most important institutions. Our local library was having some serious financial issues, so the City decided to move some of its offices into the library building in order to reduce its monthly liability. These kinds of financial difficulties would be nonexistent if we issued and controlled our own money, so...

Support your local library - END THE FED!

You mean Obama's and Clinton's playbook? Good thing Trump won the election, then.

Any filthy fucking manginas from reddit care to contest that?
