Personally I think the Board Game community is so small here now that we need to contribute to one verse before fracturing the community into smaller verses.

For now, it certainly makes sense to have /v/boardgames be a catch-all for the hobby. Of course, it's easy for ME to say that...

I don't know what it takes to warrant the creation of, and funneling to, another sub, but I guess we'll find out together!

Definitely best to keep boardgames one big bucket... if it spills over into satellite subs mores the better but I don't see a lot of benefit in turning a grand gathering into a brief huddle.

And as much as I cherish Settlers as arguably the perfect gateway game I don't see a sub plastered with custom boards, dice charts and "friendly robber" rules does a lot to draw folks in to the community at large.

Very true, I don't believe a separate subniche subsubverse is needed for a subverse about a pretty niche hobby.

There's enough about Catan to warrant a whole sub? The game is as solved as a game with dice rolling could be. There aren't any new expansions planned, and it doesn't offer enough variety to warrant discussion.
