Don't let cheap or lack of tools stop you from doing it either. I started with a hammer and a $50 Harbor Freight anvil and a forge built from a cast-iron brake drum some pipe and a hair dryer. I actually still use that Forge I do have a nicer Anvil and more hammers now and some Harbor Freight grinders the beautiful thing about blacksmithing is you can actually make most of your own tools to, like all the chisels the Hardy tools even the Hammers the tongs

Awesome, I have eyed those anvils at harbor freight.. as well as the bench sanders and grinders.
I've also looked at a few homemade forge designs.
How do you acquire your iron/steel? Is it available to you locally or online? Or do you just melt down scrap?
