I really want to get into blacksmithing, but I live in a residential neighborhood and I'm concerned that my neighbors might not appreciate me hammering out iron much.
I live in a residential neighborhood. I do it half in my garage half out. Haven't had any complaints, though a couple had said they were worried about the fire from the forge. But that's just the media instilled fear of fire that is rampant in our society. The hammer blows really arn't all that loud and its interspersed by silence as you get the metal hot again, so it won't come up against any noise ordinances.
