It's a pretty contentious issue. I'm not sure it will be settled anytime soon.

I haven't had a single problem since the attack started. I pay 0.0005 BTC in fees and I'd pay more if needed. Bitcoin works fine.

transferring UNLIMITED money for NO FEE

People wanting free stuff amuse me. There is no such thing as free lunch.

Even 0.0005 is pretty high. Anything above 0.0001 ought to get you confirmed pretty quickly right now. Agreed, bitcoin works fine, but we need our wallets and services to be more aware of fee priorities.

Dunno if you've noticed, but the spam is above 0.0001 right now.

What I've heard is Gavin in on vacation, coming back next week and Mike Hearn has submitted a few fixes to Gavin's block size increase code. Once it's all done they'll be adding it to Bitcoin XT and moving forward with it. At least that's the latest from Mike Hearn.

Very little fee, just doesn't sound as good

We are already at "very little fee" stage, I don't think zero-fee tx goes through very well even during non-stressed times.

Is Gavin planning on raising it anytime soon? I say bring on the fork...

It's not up to Gavin. His job right now is to convince everyone else that his plan is the best solution. So far, that hasn't happened. Increasing the blocksize will probably happen eventually, but it needs to be carefully considered and rigorously debated. It's not the sort of thing you want to rush into without taking all possible risks into account.

Also, I know people are worried about the number of unconfirmed transactions. It's certainly not ideal, but I don't believe raising the block size would solve the underlying spam issue. It would just make a cheap attack slightly more expensive. We can already make the attack more expensive without risking a careless hard fork. Transactions are confirming normally with a slightly increased transaction fee.

caught a lot of flak from the Chinese Mining pools. They didnt say it out right but they made it be known that they have a strong say in this block size debate.
