It's a good rule of thumb to not reuse addresses, but you can get away with it as long as you understand the repercussions.

  1. It's bad for your privacy. Everybody can see every transaction you make. (Not a big deal in Voat's case.)
  2. It's bad for the privacy of people who send you money. (Say you want to donate to Wikileaks, but they always reuse addresses. Not cool.)
  3. If your address was created using a faulty random number generator, then it's possible that reusing the address could allow attackers to compromise the private key by analyzing transaction signatures.

Voat's address reuse is not ideal, but it's kind of nice because we can share the address around, or put it in the sidebar. If they had a proper donation page, then it would be good practice to avoid reusing addresses.
