Just trying to get some momentum going in here, so thought I would post an APA gripe discussion. Specifically, NOT about the APA itself, for example rules/scoring/slop, or that stuff. I'm curious what kind of gripes you have about playing APA matches.
My personal gripe, slow play. Played a match last night, I'm a 4 as is my opponent. I won 3-1, but my opponent played soooo slowly that the match took probably twice as long as it should have. I realize, I can say something about slow play, but I try and be a good sport since I honestly do like the vast majority of the people on my league. Anyway, that's my gripe for now. What's yours?

Slow play is not a gripe specifically to APA. I play in two other leagues besides APA, and it happens. You know, it really used to bother me and take me out of my game. Now it's just a minor inconvenience. Yes it sucks, but I just deal with it I guess.
Actually, a recent match I had last session (APA league) one guy took so long shooting the rack, he didn't realize he had a B&R until I congratulated him on it.

Slow shooters are everywhere, they are especially bad on the B side of double elimination brackets while the players on the A side sit waiting and waiting. I agree, I used to get rattled waiting for slow shooters, now I focus on other things. It seems like my fast pace sometimes throws them off a bit.

I played in a 2-hour 8-ball match the other night. It was a 5-4 race (I had to win 5) and it went double-hill, but at least I won. It was the first match at least.
I no longer let a slow player affect my game, but I definitely don't like it contributing to a long night for the team. Typically we have to split tables at the end of the night for 8-ball so we can get out of there by midnight.
I mostly just want players to start matches on time. No going to the bathroom or one last cigarette or getting a drink. Have your stick out and ready to lag and get going. The 5-10 minutes from a match ending to a new match starting is what really eats up most of the time during the night.

Slow play doesn't rattle me per se, it just annoys me, and seems disrespectful when it can be avoided. That being said, I don't mind someone needing to use the bathroom, or get a drink. I mean, I don't want to play needing to take a piss, or anything like that. I agree on the cig though, and I'm a smoker, just wait until the match is over.
