It is actually an amp combo, and I do have the bass eq knob completely down. My logic is that since people use 7,8,9 string guitars with guitar amps that play the same notes a bass can play on the bottom strings, I should be fine. The pickups on the guitars dont produce the low freqs as much, so if i turn down the eq i thought it would be okay
It isn't about the amp section, that will handle the bass fine but will obviously have different eq meant for a guitar. The speaker will be pushing past it's design limits for travel and you will damage the speaker even with the bass eq turned down. Turning down the bass eq won't remove the travel of the speaker cone it will just lower the amount of bass signal going through the amp. It will be very risky and most likely cause the speaker damage. I would highly recommend using a bass cab or replacing the driver.
