This is a repost from the one i've made in /v/movies a few months ago
I re-watched this movie a couple of days ago and i still think that it's a great movie, my morbid curiosity led me to the usual providers of movie ratings and to my surprise the movie has horrible ratings, people really dislike this flick.
I truly don't know the reason why this movie is so detested. Like any movie, there are faults, but i cannot find any that would destroy the movie as a whole...
I wondered why then...
Was it the depiction of jews as manipulative, liars, racist, corrupted and eager to destroy the white communities with the importation of (((minorities))) as seen here ?
Maybe is the portrayal of black leaders as opportunistic leeches to strengthen their political and community grips under the guise of justice and morality as seen here, or the bereaved mother miraculous recovery from grief at the mention of a substantial monetary compensation for her loss (couldn't find a clip);
Or the media that does anything to sensationalize a story misrepresenting the truth as they see fit as seen here;
Maybe it's that women are not those pure and immaculate creatures we are led to believe as seen here ;
Or many other instances of "against the narrative" scenes that show up in the movie. The main reason given in the ratings is the movie departure from the book it was based on, i find this absurd because, if this was the case, then, "The Prestige" should have a shitty rating as it's quite different from the book.
If you watched the movie, what are your thoughts on it. If you didn't seen it yet, go and find it.
