Tough to watch. I'm all for extending the netting. Not something you really think about until someone gets hurt again. Especially troubling when it's a small child like this.

Judging from the view, it seems like they would still be past any extended netting. Not trying to blame the parent or anybody, but sitting in foul ball territory on the ground level is a danger zone. I wouldn't want to sit there with any child.

The only person who ever got killed by a foul ball was a kid named Alan Fish -- http://www.insidesocal.com/tomhoffarth/2010/05/16/40-years-ago-to-1/

If they put up extended netting because of this, it will ruin the view of the game.

I go to a decent amount of ball games and many times I'm behind the netting. It doesn't really bother me, you pretty much forget it's there after the first inning.

It's a less attractive view and it will also kill some plays that people can make catching those pop ups near the seats.
