It's very close to one-to-one for liquid water. But the empty can alone adds half an ounce, and that doesn't count all the things dissolved in it which are more dense than water, like corn syrup at over one and a third water's density: if corn syrup accounts for the full thirty nine grams of carbohydrates, that makes up a full fluid ounce, which water would weigh scarcely thirty grams. So the whole thing weighs closer to one pound than three quarters of one.

Aside. My friends had premature twins that came in about that weight. Her labor lasted less than 15 mins.

For years they made paid for trips back to that hospital (Vanderbilt in Nashville) so they could be studied. They turned out just fine , both of them even graduated college last year.
