Should this be stickied? I think it needs to be stickied.

I think it should be stickied as not everyone is familiar with the proper naming of beliefs. And I maintain that I'd love to upvote you if I had the required contribution points lol

At the very least this image should be put into an FAQ in the sidebar about the subverse.

I agree. I didnt know what I was, but with this helpful diagram, I know exactly what I am now.

It depends on who you ask, I would say that that's what gnosticsm is.

I think "pretty much" puts you in the agnostic category. You would still be atheist though.

People get mad and assume agnostic atheism isn't a thing, so I'm glad this got stickied. Already I have much faith in this subverse.

Yeah, but the definition of gnostic / agnostic in this chart is deeply flawed.

While I am technically agnostic (I can't literally know) I also like to call myself an anti theist. If gods exist, I reject them.

Well, it depends on the question being asked.

If asked if they believe a god exists, a Christian would say yes. If asked if Odin exists, they would say no.

If asked if a god exists, most atheists would say probably not. If asked if YHVH exists, some would say definitely not. When it comes to gos in general, I consider myself an ignostic atheist. When it comes to the YHVH, I am a gnostic atheist.

we can safely rule out the god of the bible as there is countless evidence that is it a pile of steaming horseshit

What if you believe even asking the question is pointless, and thus no answer needs to be given? Kinda like the whole feeding the troll thing.... just don't do it.

What do you mean exactly? I have come across a huge amount of people who were 100% certain their beliefs were correct.

I don't think gnosticism necessarily implies certainty. A person can "know" that there is know god in the sense that they "know" that 2+2=4. That it to say they can never be 100% sure, but for all intents and purposes they can say that there is no god.

I'm not sure you understand this.

I consider myself an agnostic, I've seen the diagram a thousand times and even used it to explain to others what it means to be agnostic.

I see myself on the line between theist and atheist, but way up near the top. I don't know if I believe in God or not. I have 0% certainty about the existence of a god. Why do I need to pick a side?

I've found that people (even atheists) tend to conflate anti-theism with that of gnostic atheism. This is definitely a good distinction for people to be aware of.

I am an Agnostic Atheist, because there is more proof against god than there is for god.

IDGAF and can't wait for the day when the word is redundant. I hate having to call myself something that I would otherwise never think about except for the thoughts of an irrelevant group.

So what am I?

Agnostic Atheist?

I am a human. I don't acknowledge the validity of the question .

Theism has no relationship to what I am

Does theism and deism get differentiated here? Most religious people I know are deistic, and only participate in religion for its ceremonies, communal ties and the like, rather than believing that the rituals/rites are part of that deity's will.

Deism is a subset of theism as they are both theists. Just substitute 'theism' for any theistic system.

Deism and Theism are not synonymous. Theism has a personhood of some description that is god, and deism does not.

You're mistaken. Deism and theism are mutually exclusive. They posit totally different gods with contradictory sets of characteristics. Theism posits a personal creator god, that intervenes in, and cares about, human affairs. Deism posits a god that does not intervene or manifest in any way. Belief in the efficacy of prayer, for example, would exclude you from the definition of deism completely.

Deism is not a subset of theism. If you're a deist, you are explicitly not a theist.
