In the beginning, Man made God. Then later on, thousands of years later, Man made The Sims, and we see really quick what people do when they have godlike power.

Even if there was a God/s doesn't mean bad things wouldn't happen.

It would if people's beliefs that the god/s were all-powerful, loving, and intervening gods were accurate. If the God was able and willing to intervene say, when he hears your prayers, then you'd think he'd stop some of the bad things from happening. However prayer usually only makes people feel better - it's pretty much just wishful thinking, and for all the times that the religious people make a recovery from cancer and thank the prayer for it, they forget that the other times that the religious person doesn't recover should also be credited to God.

So you're right... but most religions also believe that their God does stop bad things from happening.

I think God is bipolar. Sometimes he's good, sometimes he's very bad. Just like humans. I think humans created God according to their own image, not the other way around. As humans we need something to put the blame on for our missfortune. Something. Something we've never seen, cannot speak to and receive a clear answer and, for Americans, cannot be taken to court. But they pray, pray, pray, go to church, but no answer. EVER. After all, it's called hope, like an unanswered loveaffair.
