I used to be way to obese to pick up running as an exercise. so I rode my bike for an hour every day for 8 months then swapped to jogging after losing enough. Biking is a lot less stressful for the knees and a great way to exercise. try and see if it is convenient for you.

62 m, I started out walking 1 mile a day. I walk 3 miles a day now.

Weight machines are all about isolation. Go to the gym and hit any upper body machine.

You might feel weird about this but my mom did it when she was pregnant with my sister because of knee issues if i remember correctly. Water aerobics if you have a pool/lake YMCA near you, but you might have to workout with people much older then you.
