The parks are an amazing resource both for the public's enjoyment and for scientific research. They would not look anything like they do now if they were held privately. They're one of the few things that I think the government has mostly gotten right. We do not need 1 million dollar condos overlooking Yellowstone Falls.

And I have no problem with State parks. My issue is with the Federal government owning land in States and putting it to such purposes. Outside of military bases, customs facilities, post offices and a couple other things, I am hard pressed to see why the Federal government should own and control any land within a State.

I'd leave it up to the States whether they want to establish and maintain parks or put the land in private hands. Regardless, the Federal government should have absolutely nothing to do with it.
