Right, and their novelty was very cool (heck, he pretty much invented the fantasy book) but they've gone on to become every stereotype of the genre.

It's just annoying now. Elves that live long and hate dwarves, green skinned savages, bearded midgets that love craft and ale. Great when tolkein did it, just copy and paste when everyone else does.
