Suspect that is the case here too. We bought a house and realized there was a lock on the outside of one of the child bedrooms. When asking the neighbors if they had a son or second child, nope. Only one child anyone knew of.
Still no idea what they would be trying to keep in the bedroom.
what kind of lock? We put key locks on many doors to keep our incredibly impulsive son out of the pantry, shed, spare bathroom and the like. Not ideal but if not these places get destroyed.
It was a chain lock. Sorry for leaving that out. That is what made it so creepy. Chain lock, outside of door, at adult height on a kids bedroom door. Really weird.
