We both know this is a poor comparison. (I mean the native casualties at the hands of the european colonists characterize that period, and there isn't even a hint of that happening here.) Waves of immigration into the us from italians, germans, and irish more closely resemble the recent examples. Once they get their footing their children will be complaining about the next round of immigrants. The europeans are spooked because they're new to this volume. As somebody from the US, the world leader in immigration, everything will be ok. No, not sunshine and rainbows, just ok.

And as someone who was born and raised on the US/Mexico border, I can tell you that you're full of shit. If you weren't perched on your ivory tower, you'd see it too.

Every immigrant group you just mentioned assimilated into American society. They contributed to American society. Mexican emigrants to this country have been trying to "get their footing" for the past 150 years, and none of it has been fruitful.

The Europeans are spooked because these people are refusing to assimilate, taking their language, culture, and even what passes for laws with them. They still retain strong ties, both familial and financial, to their home country.

When people emigrate, but don't assimilate, its not immigration. Its colonization.

NONE OF IT HAS BEEN FRUITFUL

Where does fruit come from lol? I was the only white guy willing to work an agricultural job (lobster wharf) with mexican americans. There's nothing ivory tower about feeding a bunch of paper pushing bigots. You're misusing colonization.
