I just really like concept art, science fiction, and architecture; these two subs are great.

Awesome. Post more imaginary subverses like ImaginaryMonsters, ImaginaryDragons, ImaginaryTechnology, Imaginaryspace...

Haha I actually had to block that sub after browsing all and nearly having a heart attack :P

IIRC, it was something along the lines of Putin moving army into Ukraine

/v/OnePiece with 244 subscribers

One of the main things that I regularly used Reddit for pre-FPH was the One Piece subreddit. When FPH happened, I didn't like the stance taken by the admins on anything there, so I moved over to Voat, only to find that the One Piece subverse here was basically dead, with no new posts in almost a month.

Once it became fully active and got some colorful CSS and flairs active on the subverse, enough time had passed for Victoria to have just been fired from Reddit and a new content policy was around the corner, so it was at that point that I finally deleted my Reddit account.

I have to ask, I've heard a lot about one piece but never watched /read it. I recall something about the anime being butchered though when it was dubbed? If I was to start somewhere where would you recommend?

Sorry for taking a while to respond. Firefox locked up on me while I was gathering links for my comment, and I lost my progress.

A few important things:

1, Do not watch the 4Kids dub, if for no other reason than "they cut out several story arcs for no reason, leaving large plot holes for later arcs down the line. The Funimation dub is good, and is currently working on catching up.

2, The best place to start is at the beginning. If you are fine with just reading the manga, here is a link to the first page of the first chapter on the official site for the colored chapters for the series (once you manage to catch up to the weekly releases, it will be in black and white, and could be very mistranslated if you read a leaked version). If you would instead prefer to see animations and hear voices and music for each of the episodes, here is a link to the first episode of the Funimation dub (the official Funimation site hosts the videos on Hulu, so you'll save yourself a lot of time by staying off of there until you get to the point where Crunchyroll started hosting their videos).

3, If you go with the anime, you may miss out on a small bit of story (Oda, the writer for the series, occasionally does little stories for side characters on the cover pages {called "cover stories"} which help to explain what other people in the world are doing while the story is focusing on the Strawhats, but after Episode 70, the people at Toei {the Japanese company making the anime that Funimation later dubs} stopped animating any cover story that was not about the Straw Hat crew {instead occasionally making their own non-canon filler arc, with quality that ranges from great [like the G-8 arc after Skypeia] to terrible [like the arc that ties in with a One Piece video game]}), but it usually shouldn't be too important.

I would just start at the beginning. I don't mind the dubbed version honestly, but the overall quality of the anime has declined as it catches up to the manga. And they insist on making a new episode every week, year round, which is a crazy schedule for an anime. I love it One Piece a lot though. Oda (manga author) is great at developing characters and storylines and has created an amazing universe.

Oooh, is the subverse more active now? It was super dead when I first joined too.

Yep. We have weekly chapter discussion threads (regularly getting anywhere from 5-15 comments {far from the subreddit numbers, but far from dead}), a second moderator, and a lot of nice-looking design changes.
