As a parent I can attest to this. It's not when my kids are screaming like they're being murdered that concerns me. It's when they stop and are silent.

Haha this made me chuckle :P

I was out up a hill with my dog yesterday. Great outdoors and all that, usually you got only a handful of people within a half mile radius.

Managed the misfortune of ending up on the same path as a "family outing". The two mile rough terrain detour to avoid them was actually tempting. Crying and screeching and terrible music (ya, really) designed only for kids and the deaf, playing on what I can only assume was a broken phone, or at least one in undeniable agony.

Could not get out of there fast enough, and that kind of sound carries a long way in open space. Like airborne cancer of the eardrums. Morons were taking up the entire path, too. Was worth getting muddy just to not have to make eye contact and get the fuck out.

So to have to hear that on a continual basis, wow, I wouldn't last a day. Murderous rampage is obviously the only solution here, or maybe something smarter like carbon monoxide.

(the last part was a joke, for those who are humour-deficient)

You could also just burn it all. No trace of your involvement.

(I kid. Don't go killing kids)

Shame that you couldn't have fed them all to your dog.

From what I understand, it's less of a problem in some cultures, so the answer would seem to be "upbringing".

Screaming is a way for them to get attention. Babies need a lot of attention because they're babies. So they tend to scream a lot.

These aren't babies, they're outside unsupervised for hours on end just running around wailing.

They probably grew up screaming and now it's wired into their heads that screaming is normal.

I recommend you either move out or attempt to insulate the noise.

i worked with a single mom once that lived alone, off grid in the Costa Rica jungle with 3 small kids whom she home schooled

those kids were some of the most awesome, resourceful, sharp, content, happy and laid back kids i've ever known

Jumping around is exciting when you're a kid.

Here's to hoping their mouth stop emitting loud noises!
