Yes, it helped cure my lactose intolerance. Within kefir is bacteria that consume lactose, if you eat a little each night for several months your gut will repopulate with those bacteria and you will be able to consume dairy once again.

I'm dead serious. I couldn't believe it myself. Granted dairy gives me terrible farts but that's a massive improvement over the headaches, diarrhea, gas pains I would get when I was lactose intolerant. But like I said, limit your kefir consumption to a gulp each night for a couple of months before trying dairy. Also make sure your kefir is inoculated with probiotics, some of them on the market are pasteurized.

Really? How long are we talking? And how much do I eat? A spoon full or more?
[–] Otter5000 ago
Yep, I'd do about a shot of it, from the container to my mouth after dinner. I did it for about two and a half months before even attempting dairy.

No. Never liked the taste, but I might try it out again one day.

There are many flavours of kefir.

Thanks.
I drank the plain ones found in the former Soviet countries, but I've noticed in my supermarket at home there are different flavours.
What's your favourite flavour?

I used to, then I got my gal bladder removed and now it doesn't sit well. I still drink it when I have to take anti-biotics though.

Is it true that you only have to buy it once, and can grow your own from that?
[–] profanion [S] 0 points 1 point 1 point (+1|-0) ago
If you have time.

Why should I? And where can I get some?
