Today we removed a moderator of v/politics, a @system owned subverse, for questionable deletions.
Moderators of @system controlled subverses are held at a very high standard, and Voat doesn’t censor content. Sometimes deletions are by mistake, sometimes not, but we can’t have integrity at Voat if moderators of @system run subverses do not stand behind their actions. In this particular situation we didn’t see the dialog we like seeing as communities on Voat work out their differences.
If you are a moderator of a @system controlled sub you have a huge responsibility. You also have the burden of accountability because Voat has public moderation logs. Err
Error* on the side of leniency rather than inflexibility when it comes to deleting submissions/comments.
We have designed and will soon be developing a new feature that will provide a brigade proof way for a community to decide on who moderates the subverse. Let’s just call it “Moderator Polling.” Hopefully late 1st quarter 2016. Stay tuned.
