What motivated the creation of Voat?

I took a class about c# at Lund University and I figured I should try to learn more about it in a more practical way. Then I discovered asp.net, created a crappy voat version and discarded it, started learning asp.net mvc5 and almost 2 years later, here we are. However, my initial plan was to only make a simple prototype and test things out. I never intended to go this far. I was really angry when I realized that a single mod on reddit moderates all major default subs (when tesla keyword censorship started happening) and figured it was time to do something about it. Then more and more people started to look for alternatives and here we are today. Every time something happens at reddit, voat gets a spike. Some people go back to reddit, some stay. All in all it's a general upward curve and I hope everything works out for the best.

I really enjoy your "go with the community flow" mindset. It's fresh to see a reset button to the concept of Reddit and some updates to the general model. I hope that this site grows continuously! If you don't mind me asking, which mod?
