I read fat people hate and love it, but I've never liked the "no fat tears" rule - I realize you'd get a lot of "this is bad blah blah" crap, but isn't a downvote enough?

Never sat right with me, I figured it was just a joke rule.

We all like to see people agreeing with us, and hate having to deal with the same bullshit ignorant fucks, but there must be a better way.

People being pointlessly wrong, and not constructive, it's annoying and an ugly thing to have to see each day - but what's better?

I agree with the idea of no moderators, and let people vote how they want and say what they want.

I am sure there'll still be good fat people hate content

The no fatties rule is there to keep the sub on track. FPH is of course originally from reddit, and the majority of reddit's users are fat. If there was no moderation, no one keep the sub on track, eventually it would have been turned into a hug box like the rest of that place. The same could happen here, if enough people who dislike the premise got together they downvoat the content that actually belongs there and upvoat their own points of view.

People's feelings really have very little to do with the situation. The sub is a controversial riposte to the fat acceptance movement. In order to keep it alive the intrusion of fatties must be prevented.

I'd love to see the statistics on that... you do have statistics and aren't just pulling random statements out of your ass, right?

keep the sub on track

Just saying that was a bit redundant, can you give me examples of what "off track" is - like I've said, we all like seeing reaffirming content, and I can see how it's annoying seeing, not just contrarian sentiment, but ignorant sentiment that's empty.

I personally would LOVE to see an insightful contrary position, but... strangely, none exists (obviously).

eventually it would have been turned into a hug box

Like I already said... so why do you think it's inevitable it would turn into a hug box? again, there's nothing implied in what I am saying, I am just asking (I've seen a lot of subs become fairly toxic, but I personally only find ignorance toxic, contrary views are great... but again, none exist in this verse)

if enough people who dislike the premise got together they downvoat the content

But then we could just have all content shown, with +ve and -ve points, content never is hidden unless it's marked as spam - you can chose your default voting mechanism "best content" or "all content that generates interest". So downvotes would be one thing, spam flags another.

The sub is a controversial riposte to the fat acceptance movement. In order to keep it alive the intrusion of fatties must be prevented.

"intrusion of" well, say what you want to say, you mean you'll ban accounts that say things that aren't in agreements, like I said, I find ignorance and shit non-insightful comments to be boring and tiring, a TRULY interesting disagreement wouldn't be... so is banning SJW trolls the only answer?

It's because people got fed up of hearing ignorance and fat excuses and logic in real life and online. So FPH started as a place you could escape the bullshit and just rag on fat people and fat logic. There probably is a better way but mostly FPH is an escape not a place for education.

Yeah, exactly what I thought (I had to ask because I want to ..... either get, or to be honest, find out, if there are other reasons or methods).

So, really, what you're saying is, it's a safe space for "your" ideas (meaning everyone's) - that's probably why it doesn't sit right.

It does when I think of the dissent as just tiring bullshit ignorance, because it's easy, but when I see 20 / 20 askscience threads on reddit with the most INANE replies at top, with everyone vigorously bating each other hard in congratulatory wanks, and I call out why the answer is wrong (and get deleted / banned) you have to wonder.

You see - it's strange, but accurate: when it's idiots, sane voices are silenced, but in a discussion, regardless of right or wrong, ignorant voices are silenced. Is it "everyone who disagrees is wrong" or is this "everyone who doesn't meaningfully add is a dolt"?

I'd like to think the latter, and I think that's key - we want dissenting opinion, I can't think of any for fat people hate, not in the true nature of the sub at all, so what term do we give that ignorant voice? We kinda call it "SJW" today.

That rule was implemented because /r/fatpeoplehate and /r/fatlogic had devolved into fat people making fun of even fatter people.

Honestly, with all the screenshots of fatlogic I would have expected you guys to enjoy people coming in and spewing it.

Mocking fat logic is one thing, and having people just drone around the posts saying "you're wrong, omfg" and shit-trolling is different.

You tried to make a point, I get it, but "guys" what the fuck are you talking about?
