After working our assess of for the past 24 hours with just a few hours of sleep, we are finally able to catch our breath. I am on "vacation", visiting my parents after graduating and I only have my tablet here with pretty bad internet connection, working in these conditions under this kind of pressure is well... you get the point. @puttitout helped me get through this unplanned migration and I'm happy to say that he's now officially a part of voat. More info on this will follow soon.
My back is hurting so bad from sitting this long so I have to keep this post short and finally get up and walk! I just wanted to say thank you all who donated a shit-ton-of-money and made this all possible. You guys were able to kill our little voat alpha server and you were also the ones who paid for 2 new, kick-ass servers, allowing us to save some time and regroup. We received hundreds of emails from supporters, journalists, investors, developers... and we did not have any time to read them. We'll get back to you all asap.
Our paypal account has been suspended (we went over a limit - received too much cash) and it needs to go through additional verification process which I can't do from this country as my required documents are back in Sweden. Don't worry though, this is just standard procedure and all donations will go through fine. Those who wish to donate can still do that by sending paypal cash to email@example.com or by bitcoin (check frontpage sidebar for wallet address), just make sure to mention your voat username so that we can give you a profile badge as a token of our gratitude. Those who donated already, we will be processing all donations in batches and adding the badges to your profiles in a few days, this is going to take a week or so due to volume and we are only 2 guys currently able to process and do this task.
Anyways, thank you all for patiently hitting that F5 button over and over again and kicking our server while it was lying hopelessly on the ground and thank you for your support. Welcome to voat. This could be a rough ride but damn it's exciting to be a part of it.
