Im just glad that the new feature is being rolled out on android at the same time as IOS and not unnecessarily being held back so IOS gets it first.

I agree. I don't understand why Android gets treated like a second class citizen, when there are more Android devices than iOS devices.

I have heard that it is because its harder to optimise when you take into consideration all the different hardware however I am not sure as to the validity of that.

Hopefully this will make things look better on my Nexus 6. I could tell they were low-res before.

Some say Android has finally gotten same iOS high quality photos (when uploading) as well now. Does anyone know?

Kind of amazing how long a photo-based service has survived using low-quality pictures.

They've always focused on iOS and until recently the iPhone was 640 pixels wide. Now the 6+ is 1080 wide so they're matching that.

Thats because the majority of them don't know the technical stuff.

all they care about is sharing their crappy food pictures and selfies.

Am I the only one saddened by the fact that now it'll take even longer for images to load? Stupid DSL :(
