Despite the "racist" vibe on voat, most of us accept gays and all races; however, the "T" part of LGBT is where many here draw the line. There hasn't been much, if any, credible science backing up transgenderism. I hold mostly Libertarian views and think that everyone should have the right to do whatever as long as it doesn't interfere with others freedoms. However, I believe doctors and parents need to put their foot down and get these "trans" kids psychiatric help instead of encouraging them to take hormones and get sex changes that many will later regret years down the line. What is your opinion on trannys?

Also:

What is your opinion on Donald Trump?

Do you prefer regulated or free markets?

Are your parents illegally here?

What is your opinion on illegal immigrants?

As a world leader, I really would've preferred someone else. The only problem is that there hasn't been a politician/political candidate yet who I actually believe in that has run in the last election. It might be a little sad, but I used to be very enthusiastic about politics but ever since 2015, I've slowly drifted away since it's just become too stressful to be constantly bombarded with it on a 24/7 cycle.

I prefer free markets, but I also believe that every market has its advantages and disadvantages. Overall, I still would like to think that economies are very reactionary and that there's no way to truly predict how things will go down.

My parents are naturalized, yes. Since they came here as infants and in the 1960s when the Cuban immigration policy was still in place. They've taken the citizenship test and everything.

For me, the illegal immigrant issue can be very emotional. I've heard of a lot of families being torn apart over it and actually have a friend who one day woke up at home alone to find out that her parents have been deported. Yes, the system is broken, but it's always important to remember that these are real families and homes. Although the circumstances behind them may be iffy, I know that if I woke up one day for school when I was thirteen and found out my parents had been shipped to another country, I would probably have been devastated.

Yeah, imagine that, there are consequences for breaking the law.

You're studying to be a lawyer? You should fucking understand this.

Have you ever tried to look for papers on Google scholar? I have a few times now, but it's only an hour or two total and I was curious if you had done any

There are no girls on the internet.

Tits or GTFO.

Actually, I was kind of hoping to stay. Ah, I remember back in the old days of the Internet when they first invented "tits or GTFO". Those were the times...

What made you leave reddit?

It was partly due to the usual censorship reasons and partly due to the repetitiveness of the content. It started to get more of a Buzzfeed kind of feel in a lot of ways and it was difficult to feel like actual conversations of substance were had there.

I keep going back to reddit and this is exactly why it's failed to keep my attention. Nobody is saying anything meaningful, it's all just trite humor and predictable reactions to reading headlines.

Actually, I've had the pleasure of reading a few Notorious RBG opinions in school and, from what I've read, the lady has a very sharp legal acuity. I'd have to see where these claims show up in her opinions in order to look at her reasoning a little more thoroughly before getting an opinion on them though. Any chance you might know the names of the cases I could look at for clarification?

It's a combination of all the life experiences and influences that have led each of us to where we are today. Even the smallest differences could've played a role in the people we eventually became. If my grandmother made rice pudding and someone else grew up lactose intolerant, that's already two different perspectives on one of billions and billions of thoughts on every subject imaginable. Still, I believe that by sharing our experiences and the circumstances that led us to where we are today, it's the closest thing to truly learning what's outside of ourselves.

What is one thing you have learned here? And in only 8 days!

[–] SpiritedYoungLady [S] 2 points 4 points (+6|-2) ago

It may have been 8 days, but it's been pretty dedicated lol. I've learned that for a lot of people, religion and strict interpretation of stuff is very important. I've also learned that in comparison to other sites, when people feel more relaxed and less attacked, they are more inclined to listen and really speak to you. I understand now why on other sites the opposing side seemed so manic and it's confirmed my opinion that a lot of political debates today function like a Chinese finger trap.

People are people, some people don't want to acknowledge that, and overall, a lot more of us could really benefit from just relaxing.

I actually wish I could drink beer. I've got Celiac Disease so I've gotta stick to the ciders to avoid getting sick. Before I was diagnosed though, I remember going to Germany when I was 15 with family and having one of the best tasting beers in Munich. It was a German name so my memory's foggy on the name.
