I've been hearing the term thrown around for a few years now without any consistent definition. I'm pretty sure the big media outlets are not providing objective, truthful coverage of alt-right people, and even various wikis seem bent on demonizing alt-right. I don't believe in demons, but I do believe in people with various ideas both good and bad, but it seems I have to ask as directly as possible to avoid the overt bias of "mainstream" sources.
- Is alt-right a single group or a collection of loosely related groups?
- Does alt-right hold unifying ideas agreed on by all participants, and what are they?
- How can I know if a person is authentically alt-right, or if maybe I myself might be?
- Where are authoritative sources for more information?
If it helps, I recently found myself appreciating President Trump despite the best attempts of media to slander him. The media wants to associate Mr. Trump with alt-right, but I don't understand why or what it means.
