I watched some Law & Order UK and I noticed that during their equivalent of the Miranda rights they say, "You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence."
I was absolutely horrified when I heard that. And that's not even getting into the hate speech laws.
