I watched some Law & Order UK and I noticed that during their equivalent of the Miranda rights they say, "You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence."

I was absolutely horrified when I heard that. And that's not even getting into the hate speech laws.

Look to the north at Canada, where saying anything that might promote hatred towards an identifiable group is criminal.

How does democracy work if you can't speak? It doesn't and they haven't been counting the votes anyway, the curtain is just opening up a bit to reveal the prison bars.

I'm pretty sure that meteors will fall from the sky before the First Amendment is in any chance of being eliminated, and if everything fails, the planet will end before Japan touches their free speech clause.
