China decided to get rich instead of being equal, others followed, the west was more focused on being equal than being rich, the west got poor.
China produces more engineering graduates* than the US produces graduates, and a lot of those are humanities graduates. You don't get rich as a country by training people to be SJWs, and you don't get rich as an individual (with a few notable exceptions) by spending 4 years learning about how white people oppress everyone and need to exterminate themselves.
I won't read the article because the Guardian is a piece of trash, but I bet they didn't interview anyone without a humanities degree.
*India tried this too, but "More Than 80% Engineering Graduates In India Are ‘Unemployable’"

A lot of those Indian engineers are unemployable because the schools are corrupt, and the students simply bought their degrees with cash.

Indian "engineers" are garbage 90% of the time.
