Of course it's an accomplishment. Turning someone acting against our interest to neutral or acquiescent to where we could potentially trade with them is a big shift. Continuing sanctions hasn't made Cuba budge an inch, but China today is much freer than it was under Mao

I don't even disagree with you. Nothing is gained by continuing embargo with Cuba but opening trade with them is a concession/admission of failure for the U.S. not a step forward. Obama being proud of it is like being proud of taking a shit because you made it into the toilet this time.
