I'm not sure that Nazi Germany is a good comparison though, simply because there was a streak of fascism that ran through Nazi Germany that I don't think can take hold in the US any more. At this point, I don't even think the government could convince the uber-patriots to put on jackboots and align themselves against their fellow citizens, since even (and arguably especially) uber-patriots hate politicians generally. Nazi Germany depended on a considerable number of people who could be convinced that following the dictates of the politicians was identical to acting for the good of the nation and the good of the people (and the politicians there had an advantage insofar as Germany really had been systematically crippled in the aftermath of WWI, so it was fertile ground for making a pitch for the good of the nation and the good of the people). I just don't think that concept could be sold widely enough in the US today to overcome the certain opposition. The divisions within the population are too many and too deep (and, somewhat ironically in this context, largely a direct result of the efforts of politicians and their cronies) and I just don't think there's a single group that could be won to the side of the government and provide sufficient support to overwhelm everyone else.
I predict it'll be more like the USSR, with the privileged few remaining in power in spite of widespread opposition simply by dint of overwhelming force of arms and an omnipresent and unconstrained police state. Or more accurately, I believe that that's the path that they'll continue to try to take. I don't think it will succeed for long, if at all.

Good point. I was just using some hyperbole and picked any despotic time and place in history, though Nazi Germany does have some relevance.
Basically they've thrown propaganda at Americans abroad by calling us "tax cheats", "money launderers", etc. when all we're doing is... living our lives.
You have all this commotion going on about tax havens, foreign bank accounts and even corporations that end up shuffling money abroad and end up paying zero taxes in the United States. Just look at the banking requirements US citizens abroad face: specifically, FATCA. They even subtley imply that they're all "FATCATS".

This may sound tired but I believe that the sjw crowd would be ripe to follow a dictator they believed in "for the good of the people and country". They've also proven to have sway with large media outlets so I think they could overwhelm opposition. Further I don't believe they will have any trouble aligning against fellow citizens if they felt it was for the right reasons. But I'll admit my point of view is tainted.

I don't see it, and in fact, I'd say that that whole thing serves as a good example of my point. The whole "SJW" thing hasn't even been around for that long, and already there's a growing movement of people who are at least as vocal about being persecuted by the SJWs as the SJWs ever were about being persecuted by the patriarchy.
And I think that's likely to be the case no matter what the group might be. For every group with which the politicians might curry favor, there's another group that's already primed to get all righteously indignant about it. IMO, the politicians and their media cronies have deliberately set about dividing the American people against themselves in any number of overlapping interest groups, and have succeeded all too well. That serves the purpose of preventing the people from uniting against their real enemies - the power/money elite - but it prevents the power/money elite from being able to effectively enlist the support of any notable number of people against the rest, simply because every notable group of people already has a dedicated group of opponents.

SJW movement is a flash in the pan, much like BlackLivesMatter; useful idiots being allowed their 15 minutes, nothing more.

We are most certainly the New Soviet Union. What's going to be downright hysterical is seeing how Putin-controlled Russia will react to that.
