Of course they do. That is one of the primary reasons for suporting adversaries of Russia (or China or anyone else). Russia supports adversaries of the US for the same reason. Every conflict is a learning opportunity.

Remember how closely the world's major militaries watched the Falklands war? No one beyond the participants cared about who controlled the Falklands, and frankly, few if any thought the Brits would lose. But it was a chance to learn how the then modern Naval technologies and tactics would fare in an actual combat situation.

The Ukraine today is not much different.

Are you kidding? Which adversaries of the US they support? Syria? Ukraine? These are not US adversaries. We support China much more than Russia who fears China that attacked the USSR on several occasions. Falklands war was a slaughter! Argentina had nothing to defend itself with! Brits gratuitously sank a cruiser that was returning to port, killing over 700 on board. As a result Argentina sank a British destroyer. And that was it.
