Oh, is there such a distinction in English? In German the word is nearly the same "Impotenz/impotent" and just means unable to father children. Though, obviously someone who can't get it up cannot father children either and is thus "Impotent", too.

Yes, in British English infertile = "shooting blanks" and impotent = "cannot get it up".

I'll leave it to an American to speak for American English.
