The Chinese modeled the city of Tianducheng after Paris due to "Paris Syndrome" it's common for asians to experience culture shock when visiting Europe due to it not meeting the expectations that they have due to pop culture and movies. I guess it's how American kids perceive Disney Land.

Personally I'd rather visit China or Japan, they actually exceeded my expectations when I've visited. With the current state of Europe I'd probably go visit Tianducheng if I wanted to see what Paris was like.

Japan is essentially the cultural center of the world right now. Wanna know why South Korea and China are always trying to drum up support from their people against Japan? Whenever I travel to Japan it’s filled with Chinese and Korean tourists and students who strive to become more Japanese than the Japanese themselves.

You are right, too, when I last went to Paris it was filthy and smelly. Smelled like piss in a lot of tourist areas and there were cigarette butts everyfrickingwhere. 2/10 would not visit again.

Look at otaku culture in America. This generation was brought up on anime and it shows with how many otaku/weeaboo/wanabese we have today. Theyre a cultural superpower, with many tenets to admire(minimalism, respect for others, not stealing pets for food, cleaner living),unlike the surrounding cultures(rampant animal abuse, rampant pollution, rampant corruption). Japan is currently the cultural 'holy site' of the world. The way Rome,Paris,London,or Constantinople were for a time, spreading their influence through trade, making other cultures want to join them rather than be forced to (not that force hasnt been used by every imperial nation at some point in their history to further their influence)

I was born in a shithole country, but the first and only time in my life that I saw rats was in Paris a few years ago. Around 11PM right in front of Notre Dame. A whole family of them. That's one thing that's remained from the legendary French culture, their otherwise excellent sewage system's unfortunate propensity to house large populations of rats.

When I was stationed in Germany, everyone I knew said not to go to Paris, so I never did. They came back with pictures of shitskins shooting up on the streets, stories of how rude people were because they were American, and everyone that went had an all around bad time.

Yeah, but that's Eastern Europe, not Western.

Poland is awesome. Hanging out in Krakow square at night, that's the Europe I dreamed it would be like. Czech Republic & Prague is cool, but very crowded in the summer.

Visit Oxford, MS. The town square is something of a cross of the French quarter and Disney's main street.
